ATHLETIC CLUB AGM

The annual general meeting of the Roundwood and District Athletic Club will take place on Thursday, November 23, in Aras an.

GALA CONCERT

A gala concert ‘ Songs for Syria’ takes place next Sunday, November 26, at 7.30 p.m. in St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wicklow Town. This will be a wonderful evening of song from local choirs directed by Tony Norton. Wicklow Community Choir, Avoca Valley Singers and Invear Ladies Choir will be among the choirs performing along with local primary school choirs. CODERDOJO

CoderDojo is a global volunteer led community of free programming clubs for young people. They learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology. PROGRESSIVE 45

There will be a progressive 45 card game on Sunday, November 26, in Roundwood Parish Hall at 7 p.m. in aid of the senior citizens Christmas party. All are welcome, excellent prize money with raffle, refreshments served at the break. Please note the earlier start of 7 p.m. for wintertime.

CABARET

A cabaret in aid of the senior citizens Christmas party will take place in the Royal Hotel, Glendalough on Saturday, November 25, music by ‘Little Apples’.

PIONEER DANCE

The pioneer dance will be on Friday, November 24, in Roundwood Parish Centre with music by Jimmy Hogan. Anyone due either silver or gold pins please contact Sheila.

DINNER DANCE

Roundwood AFC are hosting a Christmas dinner dance on the Friday, November 24, in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmount.

Kennedy at 7.30 p.m. with a band and DJ and late bar and three course meal included at a price of €30 per person. Tickets can be purchased from Roundwood post office or Shane 087 4171521.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

There will be a pilgrimage to Lourdes from Roundwood in September 2018. Names and €200 deposit before January 15, 2018, to Susan at 087 6273032. A pilgrimage to Knock will be on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8, 2018. More on both pilgrimages at a later date.

HANDBALL TRAINING

Handball training for primary school children resumed on Thursday, October 12, in Annamoe community centre at 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. for children aged eight to 12 years. For further information call in on the evening or contact Oliver Donelon at 087 9040535 or Andrew Muldowney at 087 0510104.

AN TOCHAR GAA

The Juvenile Presentation night took place Friday last in Aras An Tóchar. We had a great season with all our young players and look forward to getting back to training in early 2018. Many thanks to all our Managers, Coaches and Mentors and to the parents for supporting and encouraging all these young boys and girls.

Congratulations to the recipients of individual awards: Most Improved Player: Sadhbh Morgan, Alex Kelly, Abigail Gray, Conor Byrne, Grace Cullen, Evan Burke, Orla Kenny, Seán Brady and Chloe Crean-Tighe. Player of the Year Awards went to Brian Medlycott, Lorcán Smith, Kerri-Anne Murphy and Liadh Cronin

GARDA BAND

The Garda Band will again play a concert in aid of the St Vincent de Paul in Roundwood Church on Tuesday, November 28. Tickets €10. Further details closer to the date Tickets Available from: parish office, Roundwood post office, Kavanagh’s Butchers, Keeley Hardware and Ashford post office.

SALE OF WORK

The parish sale of work will take place on Sunday, December 3, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. They are looking for the following. Donations of new unwanted gifts for the bric-a-brac stall, Home baking etc. for the Home Produce Stall, Bottles of wine/spirits for the bottle stall. All of these can be left into the parish office. Also seeking volunteers who could give an hour or two of their time on the day to sell tickets or help out on a stall. Every little helps. For more information call 087 6736066.

CEILI DANCING

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

MORNING BADMINTON

Tuesday morning badminton is back in full swing from 9.30 a.m. – beginners always welcome. Some rackets are available.

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be running maths classes for Secondary School students in Roundwood Parish Hall. Classes will be available for first to sixth year students and are designed to focus on common areas that students struggle with. Guaranteed small class sizes and places are limited. WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour in and around Roundwood village.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 2, 9, 24 and 30. There were eight match winner, Allie Carstairs, Niamh Kinlan, John Cullen, Sam Mooney, Rose Gaffney, Una Lynch, Eamo Wolohan and Noelie Kavanagh. Next week’s jackpot will be €17,500

MEN’S SHED

Roundwood and District Men’s Shed: Our trip to Leinster House is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, and we will be departing by minibus from the Parish Hall in Roundwood at about 10 a.m. Please have a word with any of the shedders or feel free to call 086 8650588 if you would like to come along for the occasion. Lunch in the Visitors Bar and Leaders Questions as well as a Tour of the house are all on the agenda.

Recently in the Shed Dr Máirtín conferred honorary degrees on some deserving members. They had the gowns and the headgear and hopefully you will be able to see the photographic evidence on the world wide web in the near future.

45 CARDS IN MONEYSTOWN

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8 p.m. for the winter. Tea served.

SET DANCING

Set dancing continues on Thursday nights in Kavanaghs lounge with an addition of giving jive lessons at 8.15 p.m. before our weekly session at no additional cost. Music this month by Michael and Brian.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.
