Blessington arrest after Mulhuddart shooting
A 24-year-old woman was arrested in the Blessington area last week and charged in connection with a shooting in Dublin in which three people, including a baby, were injured.
Charlene Donovan of Parslickstown Gardens, Mulhuddart, appeared in Blanchardstown District Court last Thursday morning. She was charged with possession of a firearm, namely a shotgun, with the intent to endanger life.
An eight-month-old child, his 29-yearold mother and a 17-year-old male were all injured in the incident the previous Monday, December 11.
Garda Michael Jones told the court that Donovan was arrested at 10.10 p.m. on Wednesday and made no reply when charged.
Judge David McHugh remanded her in custody after her defence lawyer said he was deferring a legal aid application.
The media were banned from reporting the date of her next court appearance on security grounds after defence solicitor Simon Fleming said that he was concerned there would be public order issues. Garda Parry Jones said that he agreed with the application.
Judge McHugh said that it was the re- sponsibility of the gardaí to take all measures to ensure that the case could go ahead.
On Wednesday, December 13, Dan Donovan, formerly of Parslickstown Gardens, appeared at Dublin District Court to face charges of possession of a firearm and making a threat to kill a Mr Michael Collins during the same incident on Monday.
The court heard that an ongoing feud between the Donovan family and Collins family stemmed from an alleged relationship between a man and a woman with an intellectual disability’. He was remanded in custody with consent to bail, with conditions to include signing on in Blessington.
