Devoted husband Eddie loved ten ding his garden

-

SADNESS was felt in the community of Johnstown, Arklow, on Thursday when popular local man Edward (Eddie) Moorehouse was laid to rest.

Eddie passed away at the age of 69 following an illness bravely borne. He had battled cancer for the past number of years and was lovingly cared for at home by his devoted wife Sheila.

Eddie was one of nine children born to Ellen and Edward Moorehouse of Thomastown, Arklow. He attended the local school and loved sports and a child and into adulthood.

Eddie worked as a building labourer both in the UK and in Ireland.

He was married to Sheila for almost 39 years. The couple met in their native County Wicklow and after they were married, lived in Arklow for a short time before moving to Glenview Avenue where they would enjoy many happy years together. Eddie and Sheila loved to travel and enjoyed wonderful holidays together over the years.

In his latter years, and before he became ill, Eddie was a very keen gardener and improved his skills over many years. He spent many peaceful and happy hours tending his garden.

Eddie and Sheila had a devoted marriage and Eddie was so appreciative of all that Sheila did for him, particularly when he became confined to his wheelchair.

He was well known in the community and was well respected by many neighbours and friends.

Eddie sadly passed away at St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar on January. He was laid to rest in St Gabriel’s Cemetery, Arklow.

He is survived by his wife Sheila, siblings Eileen, Margaret, Elizabeth, Deborah, Sadie, Robert and Willie and extended family, and predeceased by his brother John. May he rest in peace.
