-

DARRAGH O’Connor and Sean Tyndall were both impressive in their semi-final and final bouts of the B 1-2-3 Michael Andrews Championships in the National Stadium at the weekend.

Darragh defeated Darragh Duncan, Rochford bridge on a unanimous decision and followed this up with a unanimous decision against Calum Dooley of Marble City.

Sean was in devastating form in his semi-final against Casey Travers from Gorey and in the final attacked throughout the three rounds to gain the decision against Nathan O’Hara of Paulstown.

Two of Arklow’s favourites, Luke Mulhall, had a great win against Alex Harmon of Rosslare, but had to withdraw from the competition due to flu, and Josh Browne, who was tipped to win, also had to withdraw due to flu.

Another of Arklow’s favourites, Philip Feokrytova, was victim of bad judging in a cracking bout against Jacob Green of St Pappin’s.

Philip had forced the pace and looked to have done enough to win.

Lukas Godkin had a great win over Leon O’Neill of East Meath, winning by stoppage in the second round .

Lukas lost a close decision to Willie McCarthy of Marble City in his semi-final bout.

Sean Fleming had a real tough contest against Brian Gilroy of Ballymore and Damien Aibologa lost a close final to Michael Lambe, Setanta.
