Gilroy set for interesting Laragh GFC fundraiser

-

AFTER an amazing season on the pitch, the good GAA people of Laragh are turning their attention to matters off the field with a major fundraising drive in the coming weeks which will culminate in the Strictly LipSync show.

Ahead of that event, the club are hosting what promises to be a very interesting evening in Lynham’s Hotel that is open to anyone to attend and which should prove educational and informative for anyone with an interest in the GAA.

The event is called ‘ An Evening with the Dubs’ and will feature former current Dublin Senior hurling manager Pat Gilroy as a guest speaker.

Laragh GFC sent an email to all clubs in the county recently to explain the event and to extend a warm invitation to everyone to attend.

‘Just to give you a bit of background, following Laragh GAA’s successful season in 2017 and looking to the year ahead and endeavouring to build from same and invest in our juveniles, we were required over the last few months to turn our focus to fundraising. As with any small community, fundraising can be extremely challenging.

‘Given same Laragh GAA came together with the local Primary school, Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa, to undertake a joint fundraiser. We are hosting Strictly LipSync Laragh. In conjunction with the joint fundraiser, various mini-fundraising events are underway ahead of the show night in late February.

‘However, there is a particular event that should be of interest to the football and hurling mentors, coaches, players and followers of Wicklow.

‘The organisers behind this event have went the extra mile to do something different, to give interest and something back to the attendees and most of all to promote football, hurling and sport in general not only in our community but throughout Wicklow. With this in mind we ask you to endorse this event on behalf of Laragh GAA and encourage attendance by all Wicklow sporting advocates.

‘We understand that Pat Gilroy will be speaking about his experiences throughout his career and the planning, preparation and execution method he uses to gain his many successes. This night promises to be one to remember and a once in a life time opportunity to understand the mindset of a All-Ireland title holder both as manager and a player.

‘We thank you sincerely for your help and assistance. ‘Yours sincerely, ‘Laragh GAA.
