13: A very strong trade for heavy fleshed lambs. Forward stores easier by approximately €2 and lighter stores similar to last weeks sale. Sample prices as follows.

10: The opening sale of 2018 saw a complete clearance for all sorts. Forward stores bullocks and heifers in strong demand (short-term cattle). Lighter bullocks and heifers improved by €30-€40 per head. Sample prices as follows.

Tullow
SHEEP REPORT TUESDAY JANUARY 9: With over 1200 sheep on offer today in Tullow trade continues to meet a lively demand for the heavier type hoggets and the forward store hoggets.
Hoggets over 50kg selling in the region from €114 to €120 with one pen 55kg making €121. Very noticed demand for those fleshed type hoggets with the majority selling from €116 to €118. Hoggets over 45kg equally demanding here especially for the fleshed type ones in this category selling from €100 upwards to €114 with the majority from €106 to €108 while the lighter type hoggets over 38kg selling in the region from €88 up to €104 and €105 for well presented ewe lamb types with the majority pushing between €94 and €100. The lightest hoggets being offered selling from a base of €75.
Cast ewes continue to meet a steady demand from €10 to €15 per kg for the feeding ewes with the younger ewes scanning empty and possibly pushing up to near €20 with the kg while the heavy ewes selling to a tops today of €125.
In the brood ring younger ewes carrying approximately 1.7 lambs selling from €150 to €170 per head with aged ewes carrying approximately 1.5 lambs selling from €120 per head.
Just to remind everyone that we have 180 Belclare X Ewes for sale on Tuesday January 16 and on Saturday January 20 we have 450 Suffolk X Ewes scanned in lamb due from 1st March carrying 1.9 lambs and these are both dispersal sales.
