Song and dance fundraiser

-

FOOTBALL boots and copybooks were left at the door as Wicklow Junior A Champions Laragh and Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa launched a joint fundraiser last Friday.

A large crowd joined representatives of the club and school in the Glendalough Hotel for the launch of Strictly LipSync and the introduction of the 15 acts taking part.

Most of the performers have coupled up to dance sambas, rumbas and jives while others have divided into groups to lip sync to popular tunes.

From now until the big final on Saturday, February 24, in Roundwood’s An Tochar GAA Complex, each performer will be busy practising their dance and lip sync numbers and hosting a variety of fundraising activities for the two local causes.

Laragh GAA club plan to use the funds raised to build on their recent success by developing their club for current and future members while the school plans to modernise and extend the ICT equipment in all classes.

Each couple has been tasked with hosting a fundraising activity ahead of the grand finale and so the next few weeks promise to be entertaining, amusing and uplifting.

Events will kick off with a coffee morning in Moneystown on Friday, January 19, and there will be a ‘Sip, Shop and Swop’ event in Laragh school on Saturday, January 20, but many more events have yet to be announced.

Check out the Facebook page Strictly LipSync Laragh for upto-date information on upcoming events.
