BRAY’S business community joined the early birds last Tuesday to attend the first of a series of seminars being hosted by Bray & District Chamber of Commerce.
The series of seminars is designed by Bray Chamber to provide their members with the necessary insights to build and strengthen their businesses, while at the same time providing business owners and managers with the opportunity to network as well as to meet representatives of specialist organisations. The briefings are free to chamber members and their guests to attend. The first of this new series was sponsored by Pensinsula, Employment Law and H&S experts. Alan Hickey, head of Employment Law at Peninsula Ireland, gave a comprehensive and informative overview of all areas of employment law and health & safety, HR and employee well-being.
Mr Hickey outlined some of the relevant considerations they should address in planning effective HR and H&S. He also outlined his views in relation to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) legislation which will come into effect in May and should be rolled out by all businesses now, in preparation for changes in May.
Commenting after this week’s seminar, Pat Ó Súilleabháin, President of Bray & District Chamber of Commerce, said: ‘We are delighted with the response to this latest initiative from Bray Chamber to help link the business community of Bray to the experts in different industries. In a fast-moving legislative and regulatory environment, where ignorance is not a defence, it is important to keep up to speed with changes which impact business. We would urge all our members to engage with their chamber on any issues affecting their business. Make your view point heard so the Chamber can lobby on your behalf.’
