Comedy festival is a barrel of laughs with something for all

THERE was plenty of laughter in Bray at the weekend at the Bray Comedy Festival.

The festival kicked off on St Valentine’s Night with the Legends of Lounge – Steven Cummin’s ensemble featuring Totally Wired, Paul Marsh and Paul Currie and went from strength to strength over the coming nights.

The stellar line up for the festival was which put together by Hardy Har’s hardest-working serious funny man Adam Burke, included The Rubber Bandits, Karl Spain, legendary Steve Frost with his comedy improv’ with special guest Dermot Whelan supported by Hardy Bucks’ Owen Colgan and Martin Maloney.

That’s Savage Ted with Joe Rooney, Pat McDonnell, John Colleary and Gar Murran was a huge hit with festival goers while the Laughter Yoga event in the Shoreline Leisure Centre combined unconditio­nal laughter and yogic breathing.

There was plenty of activities for children too at the festival with the Punch Lion Kids Comedy and Science Magic with Donal Vaughan which once again proved one of the highlights of the festival for the younger generation.

Ireland’s longest running comedy club, the Comedy Cellar came to Bray for the first time with resident hosts Dave Reilly and Ryan Cullen, joined by co-founder Kevin Gildea and Eric Lalor headlining.

Other comedians making their festival circuit debut included Aidan Greene and his ‘500 Days of Stammer’, Diane O’Connor divulging all about ‘Breastfeed­ing Al Fresco and Martin Angolo’s ‘Jokes About Buildings and Other Things’.
