ANGELA STRIKES IT LUCKY FOR HER MUM

- By MYLES BUCHANAN

A ROUNDWOOD woman will be in her mother’s good books having landed her a €37,000 windfall while appearing on the Winning Streak game show on RTE One.

Marie Ward’s name was pulled form the drum by show presenters Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy to appear on the show on Saturday, February 17. However, Marie decided to watch from the studio floor instead, with her daughter Angela Magee taking her place in the hot seat. It proved a savvy move after Angela ended up winning a total of €37,000 for her mum, including a Toyota Corolla worth €25,000.

Angela, a busy mother to three boys, was chosen by Marie because she is considered to be the lucky member of the family, with a history of doing well in raffles. She has seven other siblings: sisters Helen and Sinead and brothers Denis, Edward Jnr, Peter, Brendan and Declan. Her parents, Marie and Edward, have been married for 50 years.

Angela and Dan have been married for the past nine years and together for 15 years. Their three young sons – Jack (7), Edward (6) and Daniel (4) – were present in the audience to cheer on their mum. They also brought along some ‘good luck’ signs for Angela which they created with classmates at Moneystown National School.

During the day, Angela works at Friends First insurance company in Cherrywood and is also studying for her compliance exams, having recently completed her QFA’s (Financial Advisor exams).

Marie bought her winning ticket in McCoys XL in Laragh, Glendalough.
