Five clubs compete in Wicklow’s Scór Sinsear
ONLY five GAA clubs entered acts in the 2018 Scór Sinsear in Wicklow.
Blessington GAA hosted the Scór Sinsear county performance and quiz on Saturday in St Kevin’s Hall.
Clubs that participated were Blessington, AGB, Ballymanus, Aughrim and Hollywood leaving 34 clubs to have failed to enter an act in the annual competition.
There was disappointmen that there were only five clubs from all of County Wicklow that turned up on the night, especially given the work undertaken to publicise the event in recent months in print and online
It is hoped that the numbers will improve for next year.
Despite the low turnout, tt was an entertaining evening.
Pat Molloy performed his ‘Fear an Tí’ duties with gusto, Ivan Smith provided sound expertise, while Mary O’Loughlin and Sandra Behan performed the most important duty of keeping the soldiers fed and foddered.
Kathyrn Noone, Chair of Wicklow Scór was very impressed with the talent on the night.
Going forward to represent Wicklow in the semi-finals on March 4 in The Downs, Co Westmeath are: Solo singing - Chris Walsh, Blessington GAA; Recitation - Sile Ni Neachtain, Blessington GAA; Ballad group - AGB GAA (Geraldine, Mary and Kathryn).
Well done to Ballymanus GAA who won the Scór quiz beating Blessington GAA by two points.
They will now travel to Sligo on April 14 to represent Wicklow in the Scór Sinsear national final.
