KILTEGAN BRAY EMMETS 1-04 0-09

BRAY EMMETS picked up their first brace of league points with a win over Kiltegan last weekend.

Two late pointed frees by Des Kelly got the east coast side over the line with the home side coming undone after getting a great win away to Baltinglass in the opening round.

Underfoot conditions were good with a nice sod, however a strong breeze favoured Kiltegan in the first half playing towards the Hacketstown end of the pitch.

Liam Keogh landed the first and onnly score of the first half for the home side as Bray got off to a much brigther start and they led at the break by 0-04 to 0-01 thanks to points from Des Kelly in the 23rd minute, Mark Linehan, Niall McGraynor and Johnny Kinch.

Trevor Doyle tore into his charges during the half time interval and this had an immediate effect on the restart with Anthony Furlong knocking over a point from an acute angle after great work by Stephen Farrell.

A footblock earned the homeside a penalty deep into the second half and Stephen Farrell shook the back off Paul O Keeffe’s net to put the homeside a point up. Farrell added on another point but Bray rose up another gear going into the final ten minutes. Johnny Kinch landed a brace of points to level the game going into the 60th minute. A Des Kelly pointed free put the visitors to the fore in the second minute of injury time. Kiltegan went in search of an equalising point but could not penetrate a solid Bray defence. Des Kelly landed another pointed free in the 64th minute for Bray. Kiltegan rallied one more time but the Bray defence held solid.
