Kilcoole are like men on a mission

-

BLESSINGTON KILCOOLE 0-04 3-10

KILCOOLE travelled to Blessington on Sunday morning last and picked up two more valuable points in Division 3.

Kilcoole look intent on making a major bid on the Junior ‘A’ title this year having lost the last two finals, they arrived in Blessington at 9.45am for the game scheduled for 11.00am and there is no doubt that manager Ciaran Dutton has motivated a squad of players that are looking forward to the challenge ahead.

This was a clash of a team beaten in the last two Junior ‘A’ finals against a team beaten in the Junior ‘B’ championship semi-final of 2016.

The first 20 minutes were even enough and low scoring as Conor Devlin and Danny Kavanagh exchanged points and it was only in the last ten minutes of the first half that Kilcoole piled on the scores with Dara Keddy picking up a goal and Danny Kavanagh two points to send Kilcoole in leading 1-4 to 0-1 at half time.

An early goal on the resumption by Danny Kavanagh and two further points by Declan Roper put the game beyond Blessington at 2-6 to 0-1 and although substitute Eddie Boylan added three points there was no stopping the men from Kilcoole and they went on to finish the game 3-10 to 0-4 points in front.

Danny Kavanagh at full-forward had a star game but was ably assisted up front by Matt Gilbert, however, this was a big team performance by Kilcoole, their full-back line and half-back line gave the Blessington forwards very little opportunity.
