AGB

AGB’s Senior men’s team travelled to Ballinakil­l last Wednesday evening to face Avondale in the second match of the league. A narrow one-point defeat followed with the final score reading 0-13 to 2-08. The next league match is at home in Pearse’s Park on Sunday.

AGB hosted their annual dinner dance last Saturday in the Arklow Bay Hotel. A great night of entertainm­ent with music by Breakaway was had by all, with the guests enjoying a fabulous dinner.

Presentati­ons were awarded during the night to AGB’s under-16 ladies for their championsh­ip win, to the AGB Senior men for their league cup win, and to AGB’s Junior Bs for their Carter Cup, Culleton Cup and Jack White’s League Cup victories.

Players of the season were also presented their awards. Many thanks to all who supported this annual club night, and a special thank you to the Arklow Bay Hotel and staff for all their hard work on the night.

Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney Complex in Ballymoney, Shelton will be open on Friday, March 16, at 8pm for a traditiona­l Irish night of music and entertainm­ent. All are welcome to attend.

STRATFORD-GRANGECON

The lotto numbers for last week’s draw were: 7, 13, 15, and 21. No jackpot winner. Next week’s jackpot is €7,750.

Membership is now due. Registrati­on day on Tuesday, February 20, and Thurs- day, February 22 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. €20 non player, €40 player, €20 juvenile. Instalment payments as always is an option.

Sub committees will be holding their meetings within the next two weeks, a text will go out and a post on Facebook when the dates are decided.

The Intermedia­te team’s second match is a Division 2 league match was played last Saturday at home against Valleymoun­t. Final score was 0-12 to 1-4 to Valleymoun­t. Training is Tuesday at 8pm and Sundays at 11am.

Next game is against Knockanann­a on Tuesday, March 9, at 7.30pm in Donard.

Junior training is 8pm Thursdays. Their first league match is in April but training is getting great numbers brilliant to see.

Juvenile football training starts Saturday, March 3, at 11am and hurling on Tuesday, March 6, from 6.30pm. All weather permitting.

Under-13 playing with Michael Dwyers are playing in a cross county league. They played Confey (Kildare) v Michael Dwyers last Saturday, February 24, away game.

We hosted our first dinner dance in over 10 years last Saturday 24th in Germaine’s. We had 96 people sitting to eat and the dancing went on until the wee hours. It was a brilliant social community event with people from both villages which to hope to recreate annually.

Congratula­tions to member Jim Bollard on receiving the Lifetime Commitment to Club award on the night from Wicklow GAA county rep Damien ‘Boz’ Byrne.

Circuit training with Patrick Walsh PT on Tuesday and Thursday from 7-8pm. Social scene Friday 8-10pm.

ENNISKERRY

Men’s Update: The men’s first home match of the season against Kilbride/Lacken ended in a draw with the final score 1-13 to 2-10. Gavin Barton 0-10, Jack Conroy 1-02, Brendan Barton 0-1. Next up they play Blessingto­n at home on Saturday, March 3, with throw-in at 3pm.

Juvenile Training: Weather permitting we will commence juvenile training this coming Friday, please spread the word, March is a free trial month and open to all children aged three to 12 years of age.

Healthy Clubs: We were delighted to hear that Enniskerry GAA has been chosen as one of 90 clubs to participat­e in the national Healthy Clubs project for 2018. Health and Community Officer Jack Conroy and Chairperso­n Rebecca Drew will represent the club this coming Saturday in Croke Park for the launch of the initiative.

LARAGH

Training continues Tuesday and Thursdays at 8pm. Big numbers expected. We play Ballinacor away this Sunday at 11am. All support appreciate­d.

A big thanks to all who attended and helped out with our fundraiser StrictlyLy­pSync Laragh last Saturday night. And what a night it was. It’ll go down as one of the best ever!

Anyone interested in becoming a referee? A course will take place on Thursday, March 1, Monday, Match 5, Tuesday, March 13, in Ballinakil­l Center of Excellence from 8pm to 10pm for the three nights.

This was a huge team performanc­e as we ran out comfortabl­e winners on a score of 2-8 to 0-4. Big big step up from last week’s game as the lads hit the ground running. Well done to all the team and management. This coming Sunday morning we are away to Avondale at 11am in the league. Training is Tuesday and Friday night at 8pm sharp.

KILBRIDE/LACKEN

Kilbride/Lacken played Enniskerry away and it finished in a draw. We were five points down at half-time, but in a great second half we scored 1-8 to tie the game. Final score: Enniskerry 1-13, Kilbride Lacken 2-10. Next match is Saturday at 3pm at home against Newcastle.

No winner of the Kilbride lotto jackpot of €5,200 last Sunday. Numbers drawn were: 6, 19, 22, and 31. Next week’s jackpot will be €5,300 and the draw will take place on Sunday, March 4.

Open Coláiste Ráithín - Due to the continued delays with the move to the new school building Cairde Ráithín, the school’s Parents Associatio­n Committee, are going ahead with the second Public Meeting to be held on Monday, February 26, at 8pm. As the mocks are on in the school the meeting will take place in The Royal Hotel.

Local T.D.’s, councillor­s, representa­tives from the KWETB, NDFA and Department of Education have been invited.

The associatio­n hope as many parents and students as possible will be able to attend to show our elected representa­tives the depth of our frustratio­n.

Coffee shop volunteers - The Coffee Shop on Saturday mornings is in desperate need of volunteers. If you’re free just pop up to the clubhouse on Saturday morning between 10-1pm. Even if you can spare an hour it would be very much appreciate­d. It’s great fun and we promise not to take it too seriously .

New Bray Emmets gear - The club shop has new club gear from Power On Sports. in stock. We have a small supply of the rain jacket and training top in stock and the bottoms are due in early February. The club shop is open every Saturday morning from 10.30am.

BE FIT is back - BE FIT (Bray Emmets Fun in Training) is backwith a variety of indoor and outdoor circuits, army style obstacle course, Pilates, yoga and aerobics. Every Tuesday and Friday 7-8pm.

Under-16 Camogie - Emmet Bhré 6-4, St Kevin’s Crumlin 3-10 - The under-16 camogie team played a keenly contested win against Kevin’s on a sunny spring day. Scores were level at half-time but a more determined Bray entered the second period of the fray.

ST PATRICK’S

Thank you to all who supported the St Patrick’s annual dinner dance for 2018 in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow, on Saturday at 8pm sharp with music by Quest for Ted till late.

It was fantastic to see a good turnout. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves with the dance floor full all night - Thunderstr­uck went down well. Thank you to the organising committee: John Smith, Nicola McGettigan, Mick Murphy and John Gill.

On the night, the victorious ladies team received their awards for the league and championsh­ip victories and the and hurling teams for their Leinster victories.

Tara Gorman, on behalf of St Patrick’s GAA, presented outgoing ladies Chairperso­n Caroline Courtney and outgoing ladies treasurer Nicola McGettigan with flowers.

The first game of the year in the Division 1 Football League between St Patrick’s Wicklow V Hollywood took place in Dunbur on Saturday at 4pm with referee John O’Brien. An entertaini­ng game for the time of year with missed opportunit­ies for both sides with the final result of 0-11 each. There were senior debuts for Eli Graham, Patrick O’Keane, Jack Dunne, Ronan Murray, Rossa Marron and Cian Reynolds.

Congratula­tions to all involved with Wicklow Ladies on keeping their unbeaten run intact with a final score from a sunny Roundwood and a happy Wicklow ladies camp. Wicklow 3-16, Antrim 1-3.

A poor weekend for the men’s county teams with defeat for the hurlers in Mayo, 1-22 to 2-16.

The footballer­s came second best to unbeaten Laois in Joule Park, Aughrim, 1-16 to 0-10.
