NEWCASTLE GAA

There was no jackpot winner last week, the numbers were 23, 24, 26 and 27. The next jackpot is €9,000, the next draw takes place on Monday, February 26.

The season has not got off to a great start after suffering a heavy defeat away to Baltinglass, Newcastle took on Shillelagh in round 2 on Sunday at Healy Farrell park. Shilleagh started strongly and kept Newcastle scoreless at half time. The lads rallied back in the second half, but it was to no avail as Shillelagh finished comfortable winners.

Training takes place down on the pitch Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings. New players are always welcome. Juvenile Training for under-sevens and under-nines takes place at the community centre every Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

FITNESS TRANSFORMATION

Calorie Blitz class is on Monday 7 p.m., Strength and Conditioning class is on Wednesday at 7 p.m., new members always welcome contact Colly Yeoman at 087 9024045.

QUIZ SUCCESS

There was a great turn out for the fun quiz last Friday, February 23. A much needed €883 was raised for the centre, this will help fund the new boiler that was recently installed. Thanks to Brian and Jean Harris for organising the quiz and being MC on the night, thanks to all who donated prizes for the raffle and all of you who turned up to make an enjoyable night.

BADMINTON

Badminton takes place every Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. New members are always welcome and it’s a great way to keep fit.

COUNTRY MARKET

The North Wicklow country market takes place in the community centre every Saturday from midday.

CASTLE INN

A Cheltenham Preview night takes place this Friday, March 2. The panel contains Trainers Gavin Cromwell, Owner Barry Connell, Gavin Lynch, Michael Shinners and Don McClean, MC on the night is Tony O’Hehir. Preview starts at 8 p.m. Free entry with a collection on the night for the Katie Nugent Fund.

Donal Kirk will play live Saturday, March 17, 10 p.m. till late.

Model Box Productions will stage Juno and the Paycock upstairs for four nights from Tuesday, March 20, to Friday, March 23.
