MEGALITHIC ART EXHIBIT
A SOLO EXHIBITION by Bray artist Erika Tyner has opened at Signal Arts Centre.
The exhibition, Sun Rising - The Power of the Stones, will run until March 18 and the official opening will take place this Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
Erika is an artist and photographer working from a studio in Bray. Central to her work is the sense that society is progressing technologically at such a speed that we are leaving our folk knowledge and heritage behind.
Sun Rising – The Power of the Stones celebrates
the precious Megalithic Art in the Boyne Valley. These mounds were not just the burial sites of our ancestors, but earlier places of solar alignment and ritual. They were built at the time of an organised agricultural society whose peoples possessed engineering, astronomy, and artistic skills. Our forefathers valued their life, their light, their harvest and as they tried to make sense of this world, they etched what they saw on stone.
The gallery opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
