Annual soccer blitz

-

THE annual soccer blitz held every Easter in aid of Wicklow Cancer Support returns for the sixth time this year.

The blitz was the brainchild of Adele and Tony Doran, who experienced cancer in their own family and wanted to help out in some way with the running of the Wicklow Cancer Support Centre. Sadly, Adele passed away three years ago but Tony and his loyal band of helpers have kept the blitz going in memory of Adele and her tireless work.

The blitz takes place on Good Friday, March 30.

It is open to boys and girls and involves matches for under-8s up to under-14s. The matches will be held on both Wicklow Rovers and Wicklow Town pitches or, in case of poor weather, at East Glendalough School.

The final date for entering a team is Friday, March 23, and anyone interested in entering or who requires further information can contact Damien at eastersoccerblitz@gmail.com.

To date, the Easter blitz has raised approximately €37,000 for Wicklow Cancer Support and receives massive support from local businesses and individuals each year.
