Obscene graffiti on walls of girls’ NS

March 2002

-

GARDAÍ are investigating an incident in which obscene graffiti was daubed onto the walls of a local girls’ primary school.

Teachers at the local school were shocked and upset to return to the school after the weekend to find that the graffiti had been written onto the walls of the classrooms.

Now the local gardaí are hunting the culprits, whom they said scribbled a number of classrooms with swear words using a black marker.

The vandals used the cover of the school being closed for the weekend to effect the break-in to St Michael’s school for girls and indulge in their foul graffiti.

The gardaí suspect that the graffiti mat have been the work not of very young pranksters but of older criminals - as they also stole a colour Panasonic television and video recorder from the school during the break-in.

Entry was gained by forcing a door.

The Gardaí are appealing to townspeople to contact the immediately if they see anything suspicious occurring in the vicinity of schools, particularly at the weekends when the schools are closed.
