RACING CHELTENHAM, TV3, TUESDAY TO FRIDAY

The annual festival of racing in Cheltenham commences on Tuesday and there are four days of action from the famous gallops right up until Friday, when the blue riband Gold Cup will be run.

Irish horse trainer Jessica Harrington had a great meeting in 2017 when her charge, Sizing John won the Gold Cup, but was withdrawn through injury last Thursday. Perhaps Willie Mullins will break his duck in this particular race.

2017 was a record year with nineteen Irish trained winners at the festival.

Wednesday’s feature is the Champion chase, once again the defending champion, Special Tiara is returning.

Thursday’s big race, the Ryanair Chase has so far eluded sponsor Michael O’Leary.
