Local rape seed oil brand back on Lidl shelves

-

A WICKLOW product is back on the shelves of Lidl stores nationwide for a limited time.

Last year, Sussed Nutrition Ltd took part in the first Lidl Kick Start Supplier Development Programme which saw 54 new Irish suppliers work with the German retailer in the Best of Ireland food promotion.

The range, which generated a turnover of over €1,000,000 for the company, was vast and covered everything from artisan Irish cheeses, gourmet chocolate chip & honeycomb sausages and gluten-free beef burgers to Greek style frozen yoghurt, gourmet marshmallows and premium granola.

Last year, local Wicklow supplier Sussed Nutrition Limited took part in the programme selling 2 Cal Cold Press Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil Spray in stores all over Ireland. The product has returned to Lidl stores again this year for a limited time.

Lidl is now looking for more Irish suppliers to take part this year’s programme.

The supermarket will se- lect up to 80 of Ireland’s top products which will be available in all 157 stores throughout the Republic of Ireland. For the first time, three products will be given the opportunity to be sold in Lidl stores across Europe.

The programme which is run by Lidl Ireland and supported by Bord Bia, is designed to help small and medium Irish food and drink businesses that need support in growing their brand and building their supply network. The final product selection will complement the portfolio of Irish products currently available in Lidl stores. Some of Lidl’s current Irish suppliers started off as small start-ups who with the help of Lidl have grown significantly and now supply products to all stores across Ireland on an ongoing basis. Wicklow food or beverage supplier who want to take part in the programme can enter online at www.lidl.ie/kickstart before April 1.
