New tourism map launched

-

WICKLOW Tourism has launched the 2018 edition of its map of the Garden County.

The map is widely used by visitors as they find their way around the county and it lists many attractions, points of interests and activities on offer. It also lists places to stay, eat and shop, as well as numerous services.

‘Our map has proven extremely popular with visitors over the years and is eagerly awaited by tourism providers,’ said Fred Verdier, Manager at Wicklow Tourism. ‘It is a fantastic way to give a quick introduction to all that Wicklow has to offer.’

Pat Mellon, Chairman of Wicklow Tourism, sent his thanks to all the local advertisers who lent their support, ‘without which the production of our map would not be possible.’

Copies of the map are now being distributed around the county and can also be collected from the Wicklow Tourism office at the Murrough in Wicklow town.

The cover image of Glendalough was donated by photographer Anna O’Rourke, who won a competition run on Wicklow Tourism’s social media platforms.

For collection or further information, contact the office at 0404 20070 or info@visitwicklow.ie. WICKLOW Hospice Foundation will host a family walk with a difference as its 6k moonlight walk takes place later this month.

Snow and ice called a halt to plans to hold the walk in February but the hospice is hopeful of far more ambient conditions when the rescheduled walk takes place on Saturday, April 21.

Walkers are asked to sign in at Kavanagh’s Vartry House in Roundwood at 6.30 p.m., with the walk beginning at 7.30 p.m.

Participants can register for €20 per adult or €40 for a family. Alternatively, they can register for the walk and undertake to raise additional funds with a sponsorship card. Sponsorship cards can be had at www.wicklowhospice. ie/event/6k-moonlight-walk/ or by calling Sinead Tarmey at Wicklow Hospice Foundation on 0402 91310 or sinead@ wicklowhospice.ie

Online registration is available on www.itsplainsailing.com.

Refreshments will be served afterwards in Kavanagh’s and there will be a raffle for all participants.
