CHORAL MUSIC NIGHT

-

Chéile Community Choir from Bray, with their director Tony Norton, will be the hosts of the first ‘International Choral Festival’ presenting a diversity of choirs in Bray.

The event takes place at Mermaid Arts Centre on Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are €8 or €6 concession and available at mermaidartscentre.ie or 01 2724030. The guest choir performing this first year are the Sarzanae Concentus Choir with musical director Antonio Vivaldi. They are travelling from Sarzana in Northern Italy where the Cheile Choir were hosted in 2017 at their choral festival.

This year’s festival showcases and celebrates the immense passionate and unique sounds of community choirs and semiprofessional choirs; who all have their own unique sound. Their repertoire is broad, complementing the diversity of choirs. They are drawn from Irish traditional music, world music, musical theatre, secular music, contemporary pop music and even folk music plus classical repertoire. The individual choirs sing passionately whilst sharing one heart and one voice. The Wicklow Community Choir and the Avoca Valley Singers will also perform at this highly anticipated event. Chéile Community Choir is based at Little Bray Family Resource and Development Centre.
