DISASTER LOOMS AT THE CARLISLE GROUNDS
Wages not guaranteed says Mulvey
BRAY WANDERERS reached crisis point yesterday evening as chairman Gerry Mulvey announced that the club are willing to sell all players as they cannot honour payments.
The players weren’t paid as scheduled on Friday before their defeat to Limerick and now, nine points adrift of safety, the Seagulls squad looks set to be picked apart.
Mulvey said: “Bray Wanderers have reluctantly decided to listen to offers for any of their players. Given the club’s inability to guarantee wages until the end of the season, it’s only fair to give the players an opportunity to secure employment elsewhere.
“The situation could change overnight but until such time as it does we will listen to all offers and make decisions on a case by case basis.
“We wish them the best of luck in their endeavours to secure new contracts elsewhere.”
It is an extremely ominous decision and points to a bleak future for the Co. Wicklow club.
The statement was released via social media and defender Sean Heaney replied to the post, tweeting: “Any chance of telling your players this. Absolute shambles!!!”
Many Bray players had already been the subject of transfer speculation prior to this announcement so this could be the beginning of a mass exodus.
On Monday morning, Bray Wanderers fans may have worried for their Premier Division future. Now they’ll be worried for their future full-stop.
