Friday

The first match was against local team Longstone in Castlewell­an in blistering heat ended with AGB coming out on top 3-9 to 1-5.

Next match at same location was against a tougher opposition in Tullamore and ended with the Offaly side wining by a single point, AGB 2-4 Tullamore 2-5, in a tit-for-tat battle.

Saturday morning

AGB needed to win this to remain in the cup and came up against our host club Castlewell­an.

AGB came out on top with an impressive 5-5 to 0-5 defeat of our hosts to set up an afternoon quatar-final against Wexford’s St Anne’s.

AGB started excellentl­y and were leading 1-3 to 0-0 but St Anne’s came back impressive­ly.

In added on time St Anne’s went a point up and then scored a goal with the last kick of the game to close it out.

The game ended AGB 1-6, St Anne’s 2-7.
