FUN IN THE PARK

Keep Kilcoole Tidy invites children and families from Kilcoole for an open day at Little Tern Park on Saturday, July 7, from midday to 5 p.m. The day will feature bouncy castles, face painting, puppet shows and of course playing with friends and classmates. We hope to see you all there to celebrate Tidy Towns and the fantastic work put in this year by our many volunteers.

ST ANTHONY’S CHURCH

St Anthony’s Church, Kilcoole will celebrate its 50th Anniversar­y on July 29 this year with Mass at midday in Kilcoole. As part of our year of celebratio­n we would like to do a photo display of events taking place in the church over the past 50 years. It would be wonderful if you could share some photos of your church celebratio­ns with us.

Photos should be clearly named with contact details and can be left in the sacristy in Kilcoole or email to stanthonys­church50@gmail.com. We appreciate any photos and we will ensure that all photos are returned safely.

BINGO

Come join us for Monday Night Bingo in St Patrick’s Hall, Kilcoole. First game at 8 p.m. €10 per book (to include loose sheet and jackpot game). Extra loose sheet €1. Raffle Tickets on sale on the night. All welcome to attend.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

The centre is available for bookings (e.g. classes, meetings, birthday parties). Bookings can be made via email kilcoolecc@ gmail.com or by phone 01 2872017. The office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed for lunch between 12.30 p.m and 1.15 p.m.

INDOOR BOWLS

Bowls takes place every Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s/Forrester’s Hall. New members are welcome. Why not give it a try.

PARENT/TODDLER GROUP

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the community centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Mass Time Change: Until the end of September there will be no celebratio­n of the Monday to Friday 7.30 p.m. Evening Mass.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Group: Operates Drop-In Centre in St Anne’s Resource Centre on the First Friday of each month at 10.30 a.m. The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is a voluntary ministry. The volunteers are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving.

First Friday: This Friday is the First Friday and the Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel will be open from 10.30 a.m. to 2.45 p.m. Priests will be available on this day to visit the housebound and sick in the parish. Please contact the parish office if someone you know would like a priest to visit them.

The World Meeting of Families 2018 Icon of the Holy Family: The Icon, which is travelling around the country will visit St Anne’s Parish from Thursday, July 12, to Saturday, July 14, The Icon of the Holy Family was specially commission­ed by the WMoF 2018, written by iconograph­er Mihia Cucu and assisted by the Redemptori­stine Sisters of the Monastery of St Alphonsus, Iona Road, Dublin. It is a great privilege to receive the Icon into St Anne’s Parish. The Icon will arrive in St Anne’s Church around 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, and will leave on Saturday, July 14, after the 10 a.m. Mass.

World Meeting of Families Closing Mass – Sunday, August 26,: The parish has booked a bus (55 seats) for those who would like to attend the Mass in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, August 26, The 55-seater bus is now fully booked. However, we may book a 65-seater bus if we receive enough bookings. The deadline for booking a place on the bus today (Wednesday). Please contact the parish office to book your place on the bus. The price will be approximat­ely €20 per person. Departure time to be confirmed closer to the date.

Please note: The parish office has been allocated tickets for those travelling on the bus to the Mass in the Phoenix Park, which will be distribute­d on the day. There is no need to obtain a ticket online if travelling on the parish bus. Parishione­rs making their own way to the Mass in the Phoenix Park will need a ticket, which is free of charge and available now on the WMOF website: worldmeeti­ng2018.ie.

Union of Catholic Apostolate – UAC.: The next meeting will take place on Monday, September 24, Hospitalit­y Sunday: The Hospitalit­y Team would like to invite those attending this Sundays 10.30 a.m. to St Anne’s Resource Centre after it for tea or coffee.

BOOK SALE

This Saturday the July First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n, takes place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Shankill Old Folks Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, so make a point of calling into it during that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the summer. Dona- tions of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – The library will be closed this Friday and open on Saturday. The next event for members of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and surroundin­g area, is this Sundays day trip to Carlow for a guided tour of St Willibrord, Patron Saint of Luxenbourg, and his connection­s with Co. Carlow, and will include visits to Rath Melsigi, St Laserian’s Cathedral and Holy well in Old Lieghlin, the Cathedral in Carlow Town and Carlow County Museum. GAA CLUB NOTES

The juvenile Academy is in action every Saturday at 10 a.m. in Stonebridg­e Road. All equipment is provided free of charge and the cost is only €2 for each child. There is no annual subscripti­on. So why not come along and give the Academy a try.

Many thanks to Sherry Fitzgerald for their partnering with our under-10 girls’ Football and Cmogie teams. In the ‘Chase the Ace’ draw in Brady’s Ado Hickey there was a winner of the jackpot for €650. Last week’s jackpot was €500. Tickets are €2 each. Well done to our 10 new coaches who just completed the Foundation Coaching course they are very welcome.

Great skills on show last Saturday week morning by the unde – eight camogie team who travelled to Clanna Gael-Fontenoy, the under-10 hurlers were at home to Faughs which was a cracker of a game and the under-11 boys’ footballer­s were away to St Finian’s. In the afternoon the under-eight girls had a football blitz which included FoxCab and Thomas Davis in Stonebridg­e Road. The under-nine girls were away to Fox-Cab for a blitz.
