GAME CLUB BBQ

Avonmore Game Club will hold its ninth charity/fundraiser barbecue on Saturday, July 7, in Kavanaghs Vartry House at 6.30 p.m. This year again a donation will be made to Roundwood senior citizens and Roundwood National School.

BINGO

Fun Bingo will take place on in the Annamoe Centre on Sunday, July 8, from 3 p.m. Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend. €5 per book and great raffle prizes. Come along and enjoy.

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday, July 27, in Byrne and Woods at 1.30 p.m.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The annual Parish Cemetery Sunday/Pattern Sunday will take place on Sunday, July 22. Please note that 11.30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated in Roundwood Cemetery not in the church on this morning. This Mass will be offered for all interred in the cemetery and will include a blessing of the graves.

ROUNDWOOD FESTIVAL

Plans are well under way for the return of the much loved Roundwood Festival 2018 running from Thursday, August 2, to Sunday, August 5. So keep these dates free and keep and eye on this space for more details of what’s on and where.

ACTIVE RETIRED HOLIDAY

The Roundwood Active Retirement holiday will take place from the Monday, September 24, till the Friday, September 28, to the Tara Hotel in Waterford. Anyone interested should pay their deposit to Betty or Molly before July 1.

AFTERNOON WITH MARY DAVIES

Mary Davies is a renowned author, gardener, historian, books editor and a former resident of Oldbridge. She has written extensivel­y over the years about the wonders of Wicklow of times past and present.

As part of the Baltynanim­a Pure Mile, we are delighted to include this event where Mary will read a selection of her writings about Wicklow and there will be an opportunit­y for the audience to ask her questions. The talk will start at 3.30 p.m. in Roundwood Parish Hall on Saturday, July 21, and will finish by 5 p.m. This is a free event. All welcome.

OUR LADY’S ISLAND

There will be a pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Island on Sunday, August 19, leaving Roundwood at 10 a.m. from the Parish Hall. Cost is €65 per person which includes the bus, scones and dinner. Money and names to Susan at 087 76273032 before August 1.

MUSIC IN CALARY

The next concert in our 2018 series will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, in Calary Church. Seán Carpio (drums), Mikkel Ploug (guitar) Simon Jermyn (guitar), Jeppe Skovbakke (bass), and Joachim Badenhorst (reeds) will play a concert of original music that will speak about the places of its origin, including Calary, in order to present a complex yet nuanced concert experience transformi­ng musical elements of speech into music.

MEDJUGORJE

WALKING GROUP

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group will now meet at the Knockrahee­n entrance (Newtown Road R765) to the Upper Vartry Reservoir at 7 p.m. every Wednesday for the summer months. There are now a range of walks to suit all levels of ability. So do come along to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour. All welcome.

CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 p.m. for the summer months tea served.
