Hopefuls compete for Show Queen title

EXCITEMENT is mounting ahead of this year’s Tinahely Show Queen contest which takes place at the county’s largest agricultur­al show on the August bank holiday Monday.

The Tinahely Show will once again play host to this popular segment which will see nine young women compete for this year’s title.

The winner will be selected live at the show on August 6 and will win an array of wonderful prizes including a trip to Wales to the Pembrokesh­ire County Show with which the Tinahely Show is twinned, prize money, a piece of jewellery and a bouquet of flowers. All contestant­s will receive flowers and jewellery for taking part.

The live interviews which took place in Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely last Thursday evening revealed stiff competitio­n and the judging panel will have a difficult talk to pick a winner.

The following contestant­s are in the running for the title: Bronwyn Cas- tles sponsored by Perry Oil company Ltd; Bernadette Lambert sponsored by Dempsey Engine Overhaul; Aoife Healy sponsored by Gold River Farm; Claudia Farrar sponsored by Murphy’s Hotel; Ellen Doran sponsored by Candy’s Gala, Carnew; Lorna Southern sponsored by The Dying Cow; Natasha Byrne sponsored by Murphy’s Butchers; Moya Rothwell sponsored by The Little Moon, Coolboy and a Wicklow Vintage Club candidate yet to be announced.
