Niamh raises €7,000 during Hell and Back

-

Niamh Fortune from Kilcoole has presented Greystones Cancer Support with a cheque for €7,025, having completed the gruelling ‘Hell & Back’ challenge.

Niamh is an amazing young woman who did not let a cancer diagnosis keep her down.

She was determined to keep going, and began physical training and registered for Hell & Back at Killruddery along with a group of friends.

Niamh, her supporters and Nikafit Studios in Kilcoole all worked together towards this wonderful event and they completed the course in June.

‘We are all so very proud of Niamh and her supporters,’ said Sonia Walsh, chair of Greystones Cancer Support.

‘Well done to Nikafit Studios for training Niamh for this major event,’ said Sonia.

As it turns out, the cheque handover took place one year to the day since Niamh’s last chemotherapy session, so what better way to celebrate the milestone.

Niamh was diagnosed with lymphoma at the age of 31 and having finished treatment, she wanted to raise some funds and awareness for Greystones Cancer Support.

GCS were a huge help and support to Niamh through what was the hardest year of her life.

Some of the services which the cancer support centre provides include transport to hospital for check-ups and treatments, home and hospital visiting, social outings, speakers on various topics, and counselling for cancer patients.
