BLESSINGTON KILCOOLE 1-9 2-5

KILCOOLE were the visitors to Blessington last Thursday night for this JCFC group stage match which went right to the wire with the Blues winning in the end by a single point.

Stephen Willoughby (0-2), Adam Murphy and Dara McGorman had early points for Blessington which were cancelled out by a point from Patrick Woods and a cracking goal following a thirty yard run by Jordan Murray.

Jordan McGarr and James Jackson added points for Bless- ington, however, further points from Jordan Murray, Jason Walsh and Patrick Woods left Kilcoole leading 1-4 to 0-6 at half time.

Blessington started the second half much the better and following a couple of missed chances Jordan McGarr finally goaled to put Blessington a point up inside the first ten minutes.

Stephen Willoughby added a point and the lead might have been more but for a great save by Josh Murray in the Kilcoole goal.

Ciaran McGovern and Jordan McGarr added further points for Blessington who led by 0-4 fifteen minutes into the second half, however, Blessington failed to score again and continued to miss chances which left Kilcoole in the game and they duly took advantage with a fisted goal from Jason Walsh with seven minutes to go to leave one point between the teams.

However, neither team could manage a point in the closing seven to eight minutes and it ended with Blessington winning by that single point.

Great credit to Gerry Murray at centre back who ably led the Kilcoole performance on a night when the result could have gone either way.
