1 MOVIE SCREENING: The film ‘The Happy Prince’ will be on at Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on Monday, September 8 at 8 p.m. Free from prison after two years of hard labour in Reading Gaol, Oscar Wilde (Rupert Everett) is forced to live in exile in Europe. He yearns to reunite with his children, but ill-health and a misguided reconciliation with his beloved Bosie propel him towards a disastrous and ultimately fatal existence. 4 VICTORIAN FIELD DAY: The Ennis kerry Victorian Field Day will take place at Monastery House, Ennis kerry on Sunday, September 9. The day will feature competitions for best dressed, bouncy castles, ponyrides, a pet farm, games, kids’ sports and races, dogshow, competitions, artsand crafts, music, soap box race, food festival and much more. Entry is €10 for adults while children go free and there is free parking.
5 THE LAKES 10 K: The Lakes 10 kin Blessing ton celebrates its tenth anniversary and this year’ s event will also include a half marathon. The Lake shore St riders organised event takes place on Saturday, September8. The route, on closed roads, takes you around a section of the scenic Blessing ton Lakes. Starting on the bridge crossing the lake, the route heads towards Manor Ki lb ride, before you turn back toward Blessing ton to face the only climb on the route. It’ s then down hill to the finish line. The Half Marathon will start at 10.45 a.m. and the 10 K race will start at 11 a.m. Registration is open on pop up races.ie.
6 COOLGREANY VINTAGE DAY: Coolgreany will host its first ever vintage and classic car event on Sunday, September 9 as vintage enthusiasts from across North Wexford, South Wicklow and surrounding counties flock to take part. As well as a showcase of vintage and classic vehicles, the day will also include plenty of family fun and entertainment. A variety of fun children’s activities will be organised including a bouncy castle, swings, pet’s corner, bottle fishing, novelty stalls and bric-a-brac. Jumble stalls and vintage dress will also form part of the occasion and there will be no shortage of musical entertainment thanks to Ferns singer Stacey Breen. 7 CAMINO DE GLENDA LO UGH: The 2018 Diocesan Camino de Glenda lo ugh will take place on Sunday September 9 and pilgrims will be welcome to join the Camino at any point during the day. They can choose to take the full 30 ki lo met re pilgrim age following St Kevin’ s Way from Hollywood in West Wick low to Glenda lo ugh or a shorter route. The day will start with a Service of Holy Communion and Pilgrim blessing in St Kevin’ s Church in Hollywood at 9 a.m. Once again, St John’ s in Laragh will act as a hub during the day with buses available to ferry people to the Wick low Gap for shorter walks. The day will conclude with a short service at the Upper Lake in Glenda lo ugh. The first Camino de Glenda lo ugh took placein2016.
