NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC

Two of our teams got their season back under way after the summer break and we are glad to report that both teams recorded narrow home wins.

Our under-11s hosted Rathnew and after racing into a 3-0 lead Rathnew fought back to provide some tense moments right up to the final whistle. Newtown won 5-4 on the day thanks to goals from Jake Robertson (3), Dylan Dunleavy and Brooklyn Doyle.

Our 12’s played Glencormac United and inflicted ‘The Glens’ first defeat in this league on a 1-0 scoreline. This was a game between two evenly matched teams where the attackers on both sides wanted to take an extra touch but were thwarted time and again by the defenders. The winning goal came midway through the second half and was an own goal as a Glencormac defender in trying to clear his lines only managed to put the ball in his own net. On the day the best for Newtown were Hannah Martin, Edward Valentine and Max Synnott.
