VARIETY GROUP AUDITIONS

Roundwood variety group would like to invite children from age eight to sixth class to audition for upcoming pantomime on first second February 3, 2019. Audition/workshop on Tuesday the 26th sept at 7 p.m. in parish hall from seven to 830. Teens adults audition/workshop Thursday, September 27, parish hall from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. introduction meeting at 7 p.m. parish hall Tuesday the 25th sept for parents of children eight to 18years who hope to participate in show. CODER DOJO

Starts back on September 22. These are free fun computer coding sessions for age 7+. So get your laptops ready and join in for a session packed with coding. There are spare laptops available for use if required. If you haven’t been back in a while or want to try something different why not come along and we talk about Scratch, web design and robotics. We also have a surprise demo of something we have never done before. Please visit coderdojoroundwood.com to register your child. No previous experience necessary. DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Bridge resumed with a large attendance last Monday in Roundwood Community Hall with Rowena Brady and Margaret Bolger taking first place in the first competition of this season second Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien, third Declan O’Brien and Gaye MCgettigan and fourth Mary Pierce and Kay Plunkett. Taking the honours for East/West were Bridie Nolan and Catherine Halligan, second Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne, third Teresa Leahy and Marian Davies and fourth Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Maria Magee and Rowena Brady started the new season in a positive wayby taking first place for North/South on Friday the 14th, June Digby and Monica Brady were in second place and Ger Lenihan and John Loscher were third. Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger continued from where they finished in May by taking first place for East/ West, second Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin and third Miriam Coyle and Kitty Heslin.

TABLE QUIZ

As part of Roundwood Cancer Support fundraising activities a Pub Quiz will be held in Vartry House (Kavanagh’s Pub) on Friday, September 21, at 8 p.m. The cost is €40 per table of four people. Prizes for first, second and third place. Any donations/prizes/ support you can contribute to our Pub Quiz would be greatly appreciated. If you need a receipt/acknowledgement please contact us via email (roundwoodcs@ gmail.com). Roundwood Cancer Support is a newly set up organisation in Roundwood and is in the process of becoming a registered charity. The aim is to provide practical help and emotional support to those affected by cancer including their families. We are here to lend a helping hand and a listening ear, when you need us.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s every Thursday night from nine till 11 p.m. Music for September will be by the O’Kane family. If there is enough interest we will start jiving lessons again this season. Watch this space.

HEALTHY LIVING

Do you want to find your mojo? Feel well, eat well, look well and more. six-week healthy living group in Roundwood parish hall on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Fridays at 6.30 p.m. (for those who prefer evenings) from September 25 and 28 and run by a local nutritionist. Meet new people and learn to support your health and wellbeing. There will be recipes and snack ideas included and a group walk once a week for whoever is interested in coming along for that also. Absolutely everyone is welcome. €10 per week payas-you-go or get one class free if paid in full at the first meeting. MASS OF THE ANGELS

Our annual Mass of remembrance will be on Saturday, October 6, at 6.00 p.m in Roundwood Church. This special Mass will be for the parents and families of babies who died before birth, at birth, or in infancy, and for those who died in early childhood, youth and young adulthood either in recent years or in the past. We extend a very warm welcome to all parents, families, relatives and friends who have suffered such a loss.

ROUNDWOOD COMHALTAS

Traditional Irish music classes will start back in Roundwood National School on Tuesday nights at the end of September. New members are very welcome. We are also looking for new teachers. For more information, please contact RoundwoodCCE@gmail.com.

CAR BOOT SALE

The monthly car boot sale will take place in Roundwood Parish Centre on next Sunday, October 13, from midday to 4 p.m. It is proposed to have our November car boot sales on the second Sunday of the month on November 10.

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group maths lessons on a weekly basis in Roundwood for first year students. Class sizes will be very small. These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with maths or students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their maths exams. ADULT ART CLASSES

A change in the day of the Art Class from Thursday morning to Monday mornings. The new dates are Mondays 10 a.m. to midday September 24 to December 3 at the Roundwood Parish Hall and centre. DONEGAL MUSIC WEEKEND

There will be a music weekend trip in Donegal from November 2 to November 4 This will be a three-day coach tour at a price of €289 per person sharing. The price includes the bus from Roundwood to Donegal and back to Roundwood, two nights dinner, bed and breadfast in four star Clonee Hotel, Letterkenny with music nightly with Lisa McHugh, Derek Ryan and Gerry Guthrie. CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

MUSIC IN CALARY

The following concert will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, at the Janet Ashe Memorial Concert, Fiachra Garvey (piano) will play works by Brahms, Chopin, Field, and Rachmaninov which he will be performing in Germany three days later and at various UK festivals.3.
