Lakers’ sponsored walk of Glendaloug­h

LAKERS’ Annual Sponsored Walk will take place on Saturday, October 13, in Glendaloug­h.

There are three categories of walks and participan­ts can choose the one that is most suited to your level of fitness.

Walk A involves climbing The Spinc. This is a is a medium to difficult hill walk, the distance is 9 km and takes around three hours to complete. The start time for this walk is noon and registrati­on isat 11.30 a.m.

Walk B will be a walk along the Grey Road, which is a lovely woodland walk with a slight incline. The distance is 4km and will take approximat­ely 1.5 to two hours. The start time is 2 p.m. with registrati­on at 1.30 p.m.

Walk C will be a very easy, flat walk along the Green Road and this walk is wheelchair friendly. The distance is 1km and will take no longer than one hour. The start time is 2 p.m., with registrati­on at 1.30 p.m.

Good walking gear is required for all routes. All three walks start at the upper lake car park and will take place regardless of the weather. There is a €4 charge per car for the car park

Lakers Social & Recreation­al Club is a community-based sports, social and recreation club for children and adults with an intellectu­al disability. The club provides a wide range of sporting and educationa­l services to its 360 members aged 5 to 75.
