Grace is to represent Sinn Féin
SINN Féin has announced local activist Grace McManus as the party’s official area representative for Bray East.
‘When the party asked me if I’d be willing to represent Sinn Féin in a formal capacity I was delighted,’ said Ms McManus.
‘I have worked for a year and a half as an advisor for the party in Leinster House, but I adore Bray, so I am very excited to now have another avenue to serve my community.’
Grace has been involved in local activism since her teens on issues ranging from youth mental health to the recent refugee crisis.
‘I am passionate about people, especially those who are usually overlooked in the politi- cal arena,’ she said. ‘I love nothing more than hearing people’s stories and I am honoured that through my work in the town so far I have sat with people in their joy, sadness, anger, passion and excitement through the many ebbs and flows of life.’
Deputy John Brady congratulated Ms McManus and said that she will serve the community very well.
‘Her long standing work around youth mental health, the refugee crisis and young people in politics speaks for itself,’ he said. ‘As a young woman she will bring a unique perspective to local politics in Bray that has been vastly under represented up to now. She has also worked with our sitting councillor Dermot ‘Daisy’ O’Brien for many years and they make a unique and powerful duo.’
