Plans out for new estate in Kilcoole
MEMBERS OF Greystones Municpal District all expressed their dissatisfaction with a Kilcoole development presented to them at last Tuesday’s monthly meeting.
The proposed development by Kimpton Vale Ltd at Bullford, with an entrance on Main Street, Kilcoole, will consist of 267 residential units, five retail units, four office units, and a childcare facility, as well as an innovation hub and adjacent civic space.
Officials attended the meeting last weekend to present the plans to the members.
As this is a strategic housing development, the plans go straight to An Bord Pleanala.
Submissions can be made until October 12.
The residential aspect would include duplexes, apartments and houses.
The application is available to view at County buildings, and the offices of An Bord Pleanala.
Members’ concerns include the appearance of the design, and potential increases in traffic in the village, as well as insufficient public transport, school places, and a potential rat-run through the estate. They also said that the social housing part of the development was one house short of the required 10 per cent.
Cllrs Tom Fortune and Grainne McLoughlin, with the cooperation of all members of the district council, held a further public meeting last night, Tuesday, October 2, in St Patrick’s Hall on the Upper Green to discuss the development.
They said that it is important that it adds value to Kilcoole and not be a backward step.
