Future is bright as Arklow and Gorey do battle

-

ARKLOW RFC welcomed Gorey to a mini rugby blitz on a beautiful sunny autumnal morning on Saturday last.

Teams from under-10s, under-9s, under-8s and under-7s took part.

This was a perfect morning for rugby and there were some magnificent displays from both clubs across all age groups.

This was the first blitz of the season and the first ever rugby for some players.

Despite this, the kids showed off their skills as though they had been playing rugby all summer.

There was some fine attacking rugby from all teams with great handling and continuity.

For the under-9s it was their first introduction to scrums and lineouts and they enjoyed learning these new aspects of the game.

The Arklow under-10s (born in 2009) welcomed a number of new players and are building a strong team, with new players welcome at any stage.

Gorey travelled with great numbers and it was great to see the spirit of rugby alive amongst the kids, coaches and parents as they enjoyed the traditional hospitality in the clubhouse afterwards.

Arklow face New Ross and Enniscorthy in another mini blitz next weekend.

Other results from the the club U15 boys were away to Enniscorthy final score 10-49. The Arklow under-11/12s had a busy morning at their blitz down in Gorey.

Senior ladies were away to Navan and just missed out on another win of the season with the final score 32-34.
