Mary and Biddy urge knitters to help Beaumont Hospital

-

MEMBERS of Shankill ICA joined former Glenroe stars Mary McEvoy and Geralding Plunkett at Beaumont Hospital recently to launch the Christmas fundraiser ‘Knitivity’.

The renowned actors, who played beloved Wicklow mother and daughter Mary and Biddy for many years, are asking people to knit or crochet festive gifts which will then be sold to raise funds for improved patient care at the hospital. The characters knitters are being asked to create are Bea the Bunny, The Patient Cats, or Dr Ted.

Shankill ICA members were in attendance as the ICA is supporting the campaign along with Haven Pharmacy.

The campaign is attracting a lot of attention from knitters across the country, who are picking up their needles and wool to make a range of gifts and stocking fillers.

The finished items will be sold at the hospital or in Haven Pharmacies.
