Over €660 raised for shoe box appeal
A COFFEE morning and cake sale last Friday morning at Bray’s National Learning Network raised a total of €660.77 for the Team Hope shoe box appeal.
‘We would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting such a great cause,’ said organiser Sylvia Scanlon.
‘ Thank you so much to all the staff at National Learning Network Bray and the students.’
The event was well supported by local residents and businesses, as well as friends, family and colleagues. The organisers worked very hard to make a success of the coffee morning.
The day included tea or coffee and cake as well as a raffle with great prizes.
Dealz on Florence Road is one of the drop off points, as part of a partnership between the charity and the retailer.
Last year, Team Hope collected and donated over 264,000 shoe boxes which were sent all over the world to countries such as Malawi, Ukraine, Romania, Congo, Lesotho and Kenya.
Shoe boxes can be donated to the cause until November 16, for delivery to boys and girls living in the developing world.
Items include toothpaste, soap, colouring pencils, puzzles, treats and more.
Team Hope is an Irish, Christian development aid charity, working with children, and through them, into their families and communities mainly across Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union and Africa. Team Hope is best known for their annual Christmas Shoebox appeal, however, the charity does help children all year round through a variety of community development projects.
