Funding for ‘Where in Wicklow’ project

-

A CO WICKLOW initiative is among 13 projects to have secured funding under the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Digital Innovation Programme.

Introduced this year, the programme provides funding for original and innovative local authority-led digital projects, allowing them to be piloted before they are scaled up or replicated elsewhere in the country.

The sum of €4,800 has been allocated to ‘Where in Wicklow’, a project which helps the public to access existing, emerging and developing digital services being provided by Wicklow County Council via interactive touchscreen technology. It is hoped the ‘Where in Wicklow’ Interactive Public Information Portal will become a focal point for the public to interact with local authority digital services and online supports and to access information. Services referred to include planning applications and information, Census data, location of local facilities, recreational and tourist location and details, development plans and land zoning mapping, etc.

Projects are also being funded in Galway city, Donegal, Dublin city, Sligo, Offaly, Kerry, Tipperary, Fingal, Mayo and Westmeath.
