RTE ORCHESTRA COMING TO WICKLOW
THE RTÉ Concert Orchestra will visit Wicklow town for the first time for a Christmas Concert in St Patrick’s Church.
The line-up will also include local talents Anthony Norton, Lindsey Aherne, Lorna Breen and Una Pedresch.
The orchestra has been in existence for over 60 years, performing with international stars such as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Kiri Te Kanawa and Russell Watson and leading Irish artists ranging from Cara O’Sullivan and Virginia Kerr to Altan and Declan O’Rourke.
Anthony Norton studied singing, piano, cello and conducting at Trinity college of Music London before embarking on a career as a singer. He has appeared with all the major companies and ensembles.
Wicklow-based soprano Lindsey Aherne has over ten years experience singing at wedding ceremonies, funerals, corporate functions and charity events while her operatic performances include the role of Fortuna in Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea in London and other UK venues and Samson et Dalila with the Anna Livia Opera in the Gaiety Theatre Dublin
RIAM graduate Lorna Breen is a multiple prize winner in the ESB Feis Ceoil having won 15 Senior Solo Vocal Competitions including the prestigious Lieder Prize. Notable performances include Soprano Soloist in Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit de Noel with the Goethe Institut Choir and Orchestra in the NCH.
Una Pedreschi is professional wedding singer based in Wicklow town.
The concert takes place on December 21. Tickets cost €20 and are available oneventbrite. ie. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. for an 8 p.m. start time.
