Ash­ford lo­cals in­vited to Heaney screen­ing

IN recog­ni­tion of Sea­mus Heaney’s close con­nec­tion to Glan­more, the Na­tional Li­brary of Ire­land has in­vited the com­mu­nity of Ash­ford and dis­trict to a pri­vate screen­ing of the bi­o­graph­i­cal film, ‘Out of the Marvel­lous’.

Glan­more was the renowned poet’s ‘much loved place of writ­ing’.

Af­ter view­ing the film, the Ash­ford guests will then go on a guided tour of the Heaney ex­hi­bi­tion ‘Lis­ten Now Again’ tak­ing place at the Bank of Ire­land Cul­tural and Her­itage Cen­tre on Col­lege Green.

The spe­cial tour takes place on Fri­day, Novem­ber 23. Be­tween 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m., there will be light re­fresh­ments at the Ash­ford Com­mu­nity and Her­itage Cen­tre. A pri­vate coach will leave Ash­ford at 11.45 a.m. It will de­part for home from Col­lege Green at 3.30 p.m.

The cost per per­son is €10, in­clud­ing re­fresh­ments and trans­porta­tion. Ad­mis­sion to the film and ex­hi­bi­tion is free.

Seats can be booked by writ­ing your name and con­tact num­ber on an en­ve­lope (to in­clude the sub­scrip­tion) and drop­ping this into the cen­tre, (morn­ings only). Al­ter­na­tively, call Sheila Clarke on (087) 9660537.
