Armistice Centenary Remembranc­e Events: Come and Remember those with connection­s to Bray, who died and those who survived the Great War by visiting the Exhibition, which opened last Tuesday, on view in the church till Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and on Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This Sunday, the Centenary of the 1918 Armistice – 11 a.m. – Morning Prayer, including Act of remembranc­e with solemn muffled peal of bells and address by local historian: ‘ How Bray celebrated the Armistice’. All welcome; 12.30 p.m. – Celebrator­y peal of bells; 1 p.m. – Registrati­on for ‘Come and Sing’; 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.:. Rehearsal, singers; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Rehearsal singers and players; 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.: ‘Come and Sing’ The Armed Man (Mass for Peace), Karl Jenkins; poetry reading; Conclusion.

Classics by Candleligh­t: Returns for its ninth year at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 2. Tickets cost €10 and can be bought from the Travel Boutique or by calling the parish office.

Mothers’ Union: Bray MU had a wonderful meeting early in October. First we welcomed our new MU Convenor Daphne Danga and then we heard from Jenny and Roberta Wilkin about their trip to Kampala in Uganda this summer. The two women have been supporting a variety of projects in Kampala over many years and have many friends there. This year they are developing a recording studio and supporting orphanages. They also support feeding station especially in the depths of shanty towns. Any and all money raised to support their work goes to their projects as they are completely self-supporting when they visit. Our next meeting will be next Monday at 8 p.m. in the PLC New members welcome.

HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Annual Bereavemen­t Mass: The annual Bereavemen­t Mass to remember all our loved ones, especially those who died during the past year, will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshmen­ts afterwards in the Coffee Dock.

November Altar List of the Dead: The envelopes for the November altar list of the dead are available on the tables around the church. All those whose names are listed, will be remembered at Masses on the feast of All Saints, All Souls, and the First Friday of every month. Please return envelopes to the sacristy or parish office.

Confirmati­on: This Sunday at the 6 p.m. Mass we extend a warm welcome to the children and their parents who are preparing for Confirmati­on in 2019.

Annual Mass for Deceased Parishione­rs: Will take place on next Monday at 7.30 p.m.

Christian Mothers: The next meeting will take place today (Wednesday) in the Parish Hall after the 11 a.m. Prayer Service.

ST FERGAL’S PARISH

‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ – An Evening with St Fergal’s Men’s Choir: A Singalong Country Themed Evening with all your favourite songs complete with lighting and beautiful visual backdrops in St Anthony’s Room of St Fergal’s Church on Sunday, November 25, at 7.30 p.m. Admission free but by ticket only. All Attendees are invited to make a donation to the parish on the night of the concert. Tickets available from the parish office or any member of St Fergal’s Men’s Choir.

Deceased Members of An Garda Siochána: Mass for deceased members of An Garda Siochána, Family Members, etc. will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, in St Peter’s Church, Little Bray.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE

Altar List of the Dead: The envelopes for the Altar list of the dead are available in the Church porches. Annual Remembranc­e Mass: For all who have died during the past year will take place this year on Saturday, November 17, at 6.30 p.m. All those who have suffered a bereavemen­t are welcome to attend. A book of remembranc­e has been in place from last Thursday in the area of repose: please enter the names of your loved ones and they will be remembered at the Mass and throughout the month of November. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the Villa Pacis after Mass.

Thank You: The recent cake sale in aid of Ruth Aherne, from Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, who has been asked to attend ‘SEEK Catholic Mission Training Course’ in Indianapol­is USA, was a great success. Your support is very much appreciate­d.

Bugisi Mission Christmas Cards: Once again we have the traditiona­l Divine Word Christmas cards on sale in the Villa. In addition, this year, we have a small supply of cards from the LULU project in Mwanza, Tanzania. This is a little business project for teenage mothers and vulnerable girls. Each card is handmade with silk thread and signed by the girl who made it. They are a trifle expensive at €5 for a pack of five, but they are unique and the girls get 40 cent for each card, the LULU project gets 20 cents and our own Bugisi Mission gets 40 cents.

Christmas Fair: Our Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday, December 9, Once again we are seeking new unwanted gifts. If you would like to donate them contact Anne at 087 7772127 or drop them into the Villa Pacis.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Sometimes in the past five decades the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club has had various changes in the membership. Originally it was boys only till girls joined. There were times when the girls were in the vast majority, and presently there are much more boys. Age groups have also been subject to change, and presently the age group in the greatest number is in the region of 13 to sixteen years of age. The club organises all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities to suit all ages from 10 and upwards. Over 100 events take place each year. New members will be most welcome in the New Year, and applicatio­n is available on the club site qpyc.ie.

DIVING CLUB

Join Wicklow Aquanauts Sub-Aqua Club and get up to seven weeks extra if membership fees are paid within the next two weeks. This means that fees will not be due again till January 2020. Courses are tailor made to suit trainees, and certificat­ion has worldwide recognitio­n. Membership makes a great Christmas present. CUALANN SOCIETY

Brian White, chairman of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, will be the guest speaker for the 8 p.m. Thursday, November 15, meeting of the society in the Royal Hotel, Main Street, Bray, at which he will present his lecture ‘The Brabazon’s links to Bray and the families who worked on the estate’ – all welcome, admission €5.

ARMISTICE CENTENARY

This Saturday morning the Western Front Associatio­n (Dublin Branch) will hold a Short Ceremony of remembranc­e and Wreath Laying at 11 a.m. at the Bray War Memorial on the Quinsboro Road, Bray, to remember those from Bray and County Wicklow, who lost their lives in the First World War and to mark the centenary of the armistice of November 11, 1918, which ended hostilitie­s in this conflict. All welcome to attend.
