Under-15s – On Friday last, the lads played away against St Laurences in the Kildare League with just 15 players, mostly under-14s helped by four under-15s and three under-13s. Six players injured and a lot of players not available. Good competitive game but Laurences came away with a win.
Their last league fixture was played on Sunday away against Fr Prendergast Gaels with just 13 Blessington lads avail- able to play. Very one-sided game but again the lads put in a huge effort and kept going to the end. The lads have qualified to play in Division 2 Shield semi-final in Hawkfield. Date TBC.
The Kildare league was used to give games week in and week out to the lads and as such worked well even though we were put in wrong division. It has brought on a lot of players and keeping fitness going over the winter. It is tough going but better than training. Here’s hoping for a good result and a good turnout for the semi-finals.

Comhgáirdeachas to our under-20 footballers on having reached the county final of the ‘B’ division. They had a 4-10 to 1-9 victory over Naomh Eoin Gaels (Barndarrig and Avoca) in Barndarrig on Sunday morning. Rathnew will be their opponents in the final.
Congratulations also to under-16 Éire Óg footballers Roy Byrne, Eoin O’Neill, Joe Prendergast, Cian Hynes, Killian Keane, Conor Fulham, Daniel Healy, Neil Browne and Thady Shanahan who were members of the Wicklow panel which, after an excellent run in the competition, was defeated by Sligo in the final of the Father Manning Cup.
Our young camógs did Éire Óg proud over the year. This has culminated in six of their number from under-14, under-15, and under-16 sides receiving awards at county level. The girls honoured were Jess, Aisling, Siobhán, Emily, Lucy and Bryana. Maith sibh a chailíní!
The curtain came down on activities at under-11 level in a blitz in Ballinakill. It was truly heartening to hear that a panel of 50 Éire Óg players took part and that three Éire Óg hurling teams and four football teams were involved in finals. Is scéal iontach é!
Our under-11 hurlers hosted a team from Cuala and Parnells in a round-robin competition recently. It proved to be a very enjoyable occasion both sportwise and socially.
Three former Peil na mBan players have been involved in the latter stages of the All-Ireland Club Competition. Laurie Ahern and Lorna Fusciardi are members of the Foxcab team which has reached the senior final and Caoilfhionn Deeney was no. 14 on the Dunedin Connollys team which was defeated in the intermediate semi-final 4-10 to 1-9 by Emmet Óg of Monaghan. Caoilfhionn’s powerfully driven free came back off the crossbar and was guided home by an inrushing colleague for her team’s only goal.
AGB
Well done to AGB’s under-20s who had an excellent run in the under-20 competition. Unfortunately, the final didn’t go our way and after an excellent first half where there was a one-point difference at half-time, Baltinglass pulled out everything they had and went for it in the second half of the game. A tough second half saw great action and football on the pitch. Final score finished in Baltinglass’s favour, 2-13 to 1-07.

Rathnew opened the scoring in the second half with St Pats drawing level with a goal from Luca Rampersaud and a free from Jack Dunne.
