Avonmore lead the way

Pat O’Toole Division 1

Avonmore are going along nicely in Pat O’Toole Division 1 and on Sunday they had too much firepower for Arklow United B, running out 4-0 winners.

Ryan Cahill, Fiachra Ryan, Adam Tuke and Mark Miley got their goals.

Rathnew AFC also chalked up a 4-0 victory, with Jody Merrigan (two), Kristian Kearney and Philly O’Neill scoring in their triumph away to St Anthony’s.

Wicklow Town won by the same scoreline, with Johnny Carton, Christy Moorehouse, Jordan Sinnott and Edward Dunne hitting the back of the net against Newtown United B.

Lee Doyle bagged a hat-trick for Arklow Celtic as they chalked up an emphatic 7-2 win over Greystones United, with Brian Thompson (two), Shane Walker and Jay Wolohan adding to their tally and Liam O’Donnell and Cillian Brosnan replying.

Division 3

Dearg Celtic continued their impressive start to the Division 3 campaign by hitting Avonmore B for six in Redcross on Sunday.

They league leaders ran out 6-2 winners, with John Andrew Kinsella leading the way with a hat-trick and Michael Murphy (two) and Martin Cullen also getting in on the act. Jacob Hamilton and Ryan Cahill scored for Avonmore.

Arklow Town are breathing down their necks after seeing off Conary United 4-0 at Bridgewate­r Centre Park.

Joe Ledwith netted a double for the in-form Arklow men, while Kyle Dowling and Conor Dodd added a goal apiece.

Carnew fought back from 3-0 down to earn a 5-3 victory over Shamrock Celtic, with Paddy Adair (two), John Kavanagh, Conor Kennedy and Cormac Doyle) scoring for the winners.

Dargle Rovers certainly had their shooting boots on, winning 10-0 away to Arklow United, with Tom Treanor scoring four times and Wes Keogh adding a double, while Pádraig Devlin, Adam Kelly, Allen Harris and Cathal Doyle chipped in with a goal apiece.

Elsewhere, Coolboy Rangers earned their first points of the season as they saw off Ballywaltr­im FC 3-1.

John Tobin Youth Division

Ashford Rovers’ John Tobin Youth Division match against Arklow Town was abandoned after 55 minutes when Tommy Quinn suffered a bad knee injury.

Rovers were leading 2-1 at the time thanks to goals from Oisin Hill and Ryan Beale.

Everybody wishes Tommy a speedy recovery.
