Fires at children’s playhouse and derelict Windgates House
FIRE CREWS were mobilised twice in Greystones last weekend.
On Saturday evening at approximately 5 p.m,, crews from Bray and Greystones were called to the scene of a fire at the derelict Windgates House.
Fire fighters quickly extinguished the blaze and ensured the scene was safe before standing down.
At 11 p.m., they had what the fire service called the ‘depressing’ task of extinguishing a fire at a children’s playhouse at the south beach playground.
The playground opened last August following a two-year campaign by a local voluntary committee.
There was fundraising, council funding, help from the council in managing the tender and build, community support, and a generous donation from a local family, making the new playground a reality.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.
