I Have a Tribe

I Have a Tribe and Sun Collective will perform at Mermaid Arts Centre on Saturday, February 9.

I Have A Tribe is led by Patrick O’Laoghaire. Central to live performances is honesty, communication, vulnerability and strength. Most recently Patrick joined various artists of the P-E-O-P-L-E collective Berlin, and opened for Lisa Hannigan + Stargaze at the National Concert Hall. Previous performances include Reeperbahn and CMJ New York. Sun Collective are a collaborative ensemble of classical and jazz musicians. They released their debut album to critical acclaim in 2017 and subsequently supported Lisa Hannigan on a run of Irish shows. Most recently they performed at P-E-O-P-L-E Festival and toured Australia following their debut at Woodford Folk Festival.

Duncan (Chris O’Dowd) is the no. 1 fan of 90s singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe, who mysteriously disappeared from public life at the height of his fame.

Annie (Rose Byrne) is Duncan’s long-suffering girlfriend for whom the legend of Tucker Crowe is mostly just a drag. Their little life together in a picturesque seaside village seems depressingly settled until, in a twist of internet fate, Annie connects with the actual Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke).

Working from Nick Hornby’s novel, director Jesse Peretz (Girls, GLOW) has made the kind of shaggy, low-key comedy whose modesty is half its charm.
