Tríona Marshall, Tim Edey, David Power and Rithim Orchestra will perform at Mermaid Arts Centre on Friday, February 8, at 8 p.m.

This once-off meeting of established and up-and-coming virtuosos will include stunning guitar and harp playing from leading lights of the traditional music world.

This concert is curated by Eamon Sweeney, Music Network Artist in Residence 2018/19 an initiative of Music Network in partnership with Wicklow County Council Arts Office and Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre.

Triona Marshall has been playing the harp with The Chieftains for over a decade. She is joined by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and singer tim Edey, and renowned David Power on uilleann pipes.

Rithim Orchestra is a Bray based traditional ensemble of 25 young musicians running under the Music Generation Wicklow umbrella.

The Degani Trio will present an afternoon of dramatic musical surprises and ornate theatricality, with ‘A Taste of Baroque’ at Whale Theatre in Greystones.

The trio will perform fresh interpretations of the Baroque master works, in collaboration with the acclaimed Eamonn Sweeney on guitar and Ruby Ashley on oboe.

The concert will take place on Sunday, February 10, at 4 p.m. Tickets are €25 or €20 concession at whaletheatre.ie. CHRISTY DIGNAM and Joe Jewell will perform songs and stories at Whale Theatre on Thursday, March 21.

The intimate acoustic show features some well known Aslan songs plus many songs by other artists that influenced Christy and Joe throughout their career.

The lads tell some great stories about their lives in Aslan. Christy Dignam is regarded as one of Ireland’s greatest singers and performers. Despite his recent health scare, he is still performing and has never sounded better. U2’s Bono is a big fan of Christy, and has said ‘What a voice, what a voice , the Angel of Dublin“. U2 invited Christy to perform with them at their recent sold out Dublin gigs , but Christy had a prior engagement at a charity fundraiser show, and had to turn down the invite from the biggest rock band in the world.

There is some great humour in some of the stories that Christy and Joe tell, they having been two lifelong friends since childhood in Finglas, Dublin who lived the rock and roll dream, and survived to tell the tale.

Tickets are €24 and available at whaletheatre.ie.
