Cllrs Fox and Ryan will not stand for re-election in May
FINE Gael councillor John Ryan and independent Christopher Fox have both announced that they will not run for re-election to Wicklow County Council in May.
‘After 15 years I have decided the time is right to step away from politics at the next election in May,’ said Cllr Fox.
‘Many thanks to everyone who gave me their support and all the wonderful people and organisations I met along the way.
‘Following in my father and Mildred’s footsteps was a daunting experience at times but despite ups and downs along the way I gave it my best. Finally to my family who showed endless amounts of patience and understanding hopefully there will be more time to spend with you.’
Cllr Ryan said that he has made the decision based on the demands of his job, meaning he felt unable to give the role the time and attention it deserved.
He said that he remains passionate about Bray and hopes the new councillors will put the interests of the town first.
‘I’m a little frustrated that I won’t get to see projects that I worked on come to fruition, such as the Florentine Centre and the 42 houses at Ballywaltrim, but I’m confident that they are on track,’ said Cllr Ryan.
