Dwyers celebrate successful season

-

FRIDAY night last might have been a cold one but that did not deter the crowd making their way to Kiltegan for the Michael Dwyers GAA presentation night.

Players and parents were welcomed to not only their silverware but also to the Liam McCarthy Cup which made its way to Wicklow from Limerick despite the weather. A huge thank you was offered to Fr. Pat O’Brien and Fr Tom O’Connor both proud Limerick men who were about to get the cup there for the occasion.

Also, thanks were afforded to Eamonn Phelan, St Patrick’s clubman and Limerick’s assistant county secretary who made the round trip with the cup.

Making the presentation was Mickey Mangan from Stratford, one of the member clubs and Wicklow Senior footballer.

Unfortunately, the majority of the club’s under-11 football team who had a fantastic 2018, winning their mini final and the Ray Daniels Cup were snowed in so their coaches will get their medals to them.

The under-13 football team received both a cross border league medal and a ‘B’ championship shield medal.

The under-13 Navy hurling team got their ‘B’ championship medals. Then it was the turn of the under-14 Féile hurling team who got their Wicklow Féile medals.

The under-15 footballers got their ‘C’ plate winner medals. The under-15 hurlers won the double in 2018 and received both their ‘A’ championship and league medals. Finally, it was the turn of the under-17 hurling team who received their ‘B’ championship medals.

It was a great night for silverware and finished off with a cup of tea and lots of sporting stories.
