History lecture

Our local Kilmacanogue History Society members are eagerly looking forward to the February 2019 lecture. Titled ‘Stacking the Coffins’, it will be presented by Dr Ida Milne.

Dr Milne has recently written a book on the subject of the Influenza Epidemic of 1918-19 and she is a European History Lecturer at Carlow College. It is hard to believe that 23,000 Irish people died in this pandemic and Dr Milne has included first-hand accounts from people who lived through it and also how it affected the course of Irish history.

The venue is the Glenview Hotel on Tuesday, February 5, at 8 p.m. Admission is €4, members is €3 and as always.
